Hey friends! Looking for cute rock painting ideas? This sly little fox painted rock is fun and trendy, and with a little sketching, even beginners can create cute animal painted rocks. This little guy is crazy like a fox, and hiding out waiting to make somebody’s day in my community!
HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL NEED.

- Acrylic Paints
- Varnish (I prefer the paint-on type, but spray varnish works fine too)
- Paint Palette
- Permanent Marker
- Mod Podge or Craft Glue
- Stamps and Archival Inks (optional)
For this fox painted rock, I used aqua, orange, white, and black acrylic paints, and I blended white and orange to create a pale peachy color to accent the chest and ears. Designs like this are made much easier if you sketch them in pencil first on a painted background. Once you’re happy with your lines, then start painting! You can cover all pencil lines (and pencil errors!) with new paint.
Don’t forget to add your hashtags to the back of your rock so others can share it and join in the fun! A Sharpie marker works great for adding messages, just be sure to brush it with a light coat of Mod Podge or craft glue so that the varnish doesn’t smear your lettering. For more detailed instructions, please check out my How To Make Painted Rocks post.
Don’t forget to add #PaintHappy to your painted rocks, and join in the fun in the new Paint Happy Rocks community! Share photos of the rocks you paint and find with me here:
Thanks for joining me today, and happy painting!
