Painted Rock Ideas | Fun Florals

11.11.2017 by adrianne // 2 Comments

Hey friends! Are you looking for painted rock ideas that are bright, fun, and beginner-friendly? Take a look at these floral rock painting designs you can re-create with a small paintbrush and stylus.  The stylus is a great tool for adding easy dots, which allows you to add more color without being overwhelming, and to keep an overall delicate look.  I’m no professional – just an avid fan of painting kindness rocks, so if I can pull it off, then chances are you can, too!

Choose bright colors for these tiny blossoms – I painted my backgrounds orange, fuchsia, and aqua with acrylic paints.  I kept the pink and orange themes over the two daisy designs, adding whites and yellows as well.  For the branch design, I started with a maple brown to give the look of a nest, wreath, or natural arrangement and added fuchsia blossoms with light pink dots.  I offset my designs, leaving plenty of blank space – you could fill this in with an inspirational message or word, or you could allow the bright base to make a statement on its own.  While I really love my normal whimsical, cartoonish designs, these florals have ended up being some of my very favorites.

Don’t forget to add your hashtags to the back of your rock so others can share it and join in the fun!  A Sharpie marker works great for adding messages, just be sure to brush it with a light coat of Mod Podge or craft glue so that the varnish doesn’t smear your lettering.  For more detailed instructions, please check out my How To Make Painted Rocks post.  And the most important rule of rock painting is to relax and enjoy it – don’t worry about perfection!  We are always our own biggest critics, so you have to remember that a bright and cheerful painted stone will make anyone’s day, whether you’ve been painting for a week, a year, or a lifetime.

Don’t forget to add #PaintHappy to your painted rocks, and join in the fun in the new Paint Happy Rocks community!  Share photos of your painted rock ideas with me here:
